HK youths say city should expand horizon to the mainland

  A delegation of Hong Kong youths has said the city’s young generation should step out of their comfort zone and get to know more about the country’s rapid development, such as the innovation sector and the dynamic atmosphere in neighboring city of Shenzhen.

  The remarks came when the 150-member delegation were visiting tech giants in Shenzhen to learn about the city’s inno-tech development on Tuesday, the second day of their five-day trip to the Chinese mainland by high-speed rail.

  The delegation comprises of students, teachers, entrepreneurs and businessmen, aged between 18 and 35.

  After the visit to headquarters of Chinese internet giant Tencent and the world’s second largest radio communication solutions manufacturer Hytera in Shenzhen, Andy Tsang Hin-lam, a freshman of Chinese University of Hong Kong majoring in history, said he was inspired by the development of technology on the mainland.

  He thought it was impressive that tech firms in Shenzhen could apply technology in the lives of people. He said Hong Kong people should learn from the mainland and broaden their knowledge.
